RELEASE: Davis/Docking raises over $1 million in 145 days
TOPEKA - Today, Paul Davis filed his first campaign finance report since announcing his bid for Kansas governor. In an unprecedented outpouring of support, the Davis / Docking ticket raised $1,002,389
in just over four months. Davis is beginning the election year with more money raised than any gubernatorial challenger in Kansas history.
“Kansans in every corner of the state are concerned about the direction we are headed under Sam Brownback,” said Davis. “I’m deeply humbled by this unprecedented outpouring of support for our campaign, and for Kansans' commitment to getting the state we love back on the right track. Our donors are a clear reflection of the broad, bipartisan support Jill and I have earned in just four months.”
Here is a breakdown of the Davis for Governor finance report:
- 3,359 total contributions from donors in 175 Kansas towns and 65 Kansas counties;
- The majority of Davis/Docking contributions are less than $200; 64% of donors contributed $200 or less; 42% of donors contributed $50 or less;
- The majority of Davis/Docking donors are individuals. Only 4% of contributions came from PACs, corporations, or labor;
- 82% of the dollars raised came from Kansas donors.
In addition to the high number of hard working Kansans contributing what they could afford, Republicans from across the state contributed to the Davis/Docking ticket.
“Paul Davis is beginning the election year with more money raised than any gubernatorial challenger in Kansas history," said William A. Kassebaum, campaign treasurer. "His donors are Democrats, Republicans and Independents from across the state, both urban and rural. Kansans are clearly motivated by Paul's bipartisan, pro-education vision for the future."
The campaign is reporting $770,611 cash on hand.
